Module overview
This module is the final placement module that you will undertake in relation to field 2. During your time in placement you will be supported to apply the knowledge and understanding that you have developed throughout your programme as you transition into your role as a Registered Nurse.

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:
- Demonstrate that you have the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to demonstrate competence in an Episode of Care related to field 2 (detailed in the Practice Assessment Document).
- Demonstrate appropriate professional conduct and values throughout the placement.
- Practise independently, leading and coordinating care with confidence to demonstrate achievement of the proficiencies associated with part 3 of the programme for field 2.
- Demonstrate achievement of the medicines management competencies outlined in part 3 of the Practice Assessment Document relevant to field 2.
- Completion of Practice Assessment Document for part 3 of the programme in relation to field 2. This must include achieving all of the communication/relationship management skills and nursing procedures related to field 2 contained within the skills passport.
Syllabus
The specific learning opportunities available within this placement will be determined by the field of nursing being studied and the nature of the practice setting. Student placement lines are designed to provide a breath of learning opportunities across the programme. There may be opportunities to care for individuals from other fields during this placement, the Placement Profile for the area that you are allocated to will indicate where this is possible.
This module includes study sessions on:
Transition theory and managing the reality
Self-awareness, coping and resilience
Managing self and others
Models of student supervision
Preparation for practice supervisor role (clinical supervision, coaching, teaching and appraisal skills)
Development of personal objectives for first RN post
Accountability
Risk assessment
Reporting concerns and safeguarding responsibiities
Preceptorship for the RN
Regulation, CPD and revalidation
Skills: simulation/co-ordinating a group of patients' care

Teaching and learning methods
During your practice experience you will learn by working alongside staff from the full multidisciplinary team. You will be supervised by registered nurses and other healthcare professionals before you are assessed by a named Practice Assessor. You will be expected to fully participate in direct care at a level appropriate to your stage of the programme and level of experience.
During your practice experience you will be expected to reflect on what you have learnt and undertake independent learning to enhance your knowledge base and clinical practice. This may form the basis of a discussion of practice experiences/ specific case scenarios with academic staff, peers and/or your Personal Academic Tutor.
Opportunities exist in each practice experience for you to arrange additional practice learning experiences to meet your learning needs.

To pass this module you must have completed ALL of the practice hours required for your programme If you will not achieve this in the planned placement time then you should:
- Use an extension request form to request a deferred assessment date.
- Contact your programme lead or deputy programme lead who will advise on how you may make up these practice hours
