The Open Science in Psychology module focuses on training students in current open science practices – practices which are becoming increasingly popular in modern psychology research.

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:
- Understand sharing data, code and procedures on the Open Science Framework
- Understand open science practices and the reproducibility crisis in psychology
- Understand advanced R packages (e.g., data table and ggplot2).
- Write reproducible reports in R (e.g. using RMarkdown)
Syllabus
The module will comprise a mixture of lectures and computer-based workshops. The lectures and workshops will take place in computer labs to enable students to work through the material presented on their own machines. The module will be assessed using a single report due at the end of the module. Students will be asked to write this report using RMarkdown and provide evidence of having done so. The report will involve the analysis and examination of a dataset (real or synthetic) and an associated write-up of that dataset.
Learning and Teaching
Teaching and learning methods
There will be a double lecture each week taking place in computer labs. During this, students will work through a mix of following the steps taken by the lecturer in the slides, coupled with self-directed study. This will be supplemented by a guided process through which they complete the coursework.
