George Callender is a lecturer in the Electric Power Engineering (EPE) group at the University of Southampton. He received his Masters degree in Natural Sciences (1st, Hons) in 2013 from the University of Durham, following which he completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Southampton in 2018. Following his PhD he worked as a research fellow in the EPE group at Southampton, and was promoted to lecturer in 2021. He is a member of IEEE.
He has a strong involvement with industry funded research projects covering a range of high voltage systems. His specialism is in numerical simulation techniques to determine electrical, thermal, and mechanical performance. He has successfully supervised two MSc students and a PhD student. He is the co-supervisor of a PhD student and the line manager of a research fellow.
