About
I am a Senior Teaching Fellow in Applied Linguistics/ELT in the Department of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics. I am also the programme lead for MA ELT/TESOL Studies, which aims to consolidate knowledge about the theory and practice of English Language Teaching.
My research focuses on language performance assessment, English as medium of instruction, and teacher education. You can find some of this research in journals such as Language Testing, Teaching in Higher Education, and Linguistics and Education. My work has also appeared in chapters in several books, such as Global Perspectives on Language Assessment.
Before joining the University of Southampton in 2022. I taught English for academic purposes and courses on applied linguistics and ELT at higher education institutions for 13 years (2009-2022) in Turkiye.
I would be particularly interested in receiving PhD applications on the topics of language performance assessment, second language writing, and English as a medium instruction.

Write about yourself in the third person. Aim for 100 to 150 words covering the main points about who you are and what you currently do. Clear, simple language is best. You can include specialist or technical terms.
You’ll be able to add details about your research, publications, career and academic history to other sections of your staff profile.
