About
Dr Georgantzia is Teaching Fellow in Structural Engineering in the School of Engineering at University of Southampton. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a Member of Women’s Engineering Society (WES). She is engaged in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and working in Infrastructure Research Group.
Her principal research interests lie in the areas of structural testing, numerical modelling and the development of design guidance for aluminium and composite aluminium-concrete structures. Considering that nowadays there is an increasing emphasis on green building construction and the fact that the aluminium alloys (aluminium is known as “green” metal) are one of the most energy-efficient and sustainable construction materials, her current research and future research plans aim to contribute proactively to the outstanding research of the Department into key societal needs around sustainability in design, construction, operation and decommissioning of urban infrastructure and civil engineering systems.
