Julia Kelly is the Senior Tutor for the School of Humanities and teaches Portuguese within Modern Languages and Linguistics at the University of Southampton.
Julia completed a BA in French and Portuguese and an MA in Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching at the University of Southampton.
Following 10 years of language teaching experience in Adult Education, Julia taught Portuguese on the Part-time programme and English on the Pre-sessional course in addition to Language Advising at the University of Southampton before taking up a full-time role, co-ordinating and teaching a number of French and Portuguese language modules.
Julia is currently the co-ordinator of the Portuguese accelerated language stages 1-2 module, which is the entry point for the majority of students learning Portuguese at the university.
In addition to teaching, Julia is the Senior Tutor for the School of Humanities, with responsibility for the oversight of student support within the School, through the Personal Academic Tutor and departmental Senior Tutor structures.
Julia is also the co-Chair of the Senior Tutor Advisory Group, which facilitates communication and sharing of good practice between central university structures and committees and Senior Tutors within Faculties.
