David completed his MEng in Aerospace Engineering at Southampton before continuing his studies with an Engineering Doctorate sponsored by the Ford World Rally Team. His research investigated various aerodynamic elements pertinent to a rally car while also helping to develop the Focus and Fiesta WRC cars using the R. J. Mitchell wind tunnel.
David became a member of staff in 2009 and is now the wind tunnel manager, overseeing operations in the larger wind tunnel facilities in the School of Engineering. He supervises various undergraduate and MSc projects and is also involved in several activities outside of the wind tunnels.
