I am Associate Dean Education in the faculty of medicine and a respiratory consultant at University Hospital Southampton. I came to Southampton as a medical studetn in 1983 having completed an English Literature degree at Oxford University. I qualified in 1989 and completed my pre-registration house jobs in Southampton. I went to London for my SHO and registrar training but returned to Southampton to do a PhD in 1994 supervised by Professors Stephen Holgate and Newton Morton. I completed my specialist training in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine and became a consultant in 2003. I was year 3 lead for the BM5 programme followed by a period as BM5 programme lead, I became Associate Dean in January 2020. I continue to do some clinical work in the Home Ventilation service
