About
Sunke is currently a postgraduate research student in Physical Oceanography within Ocean and Earth Science at the University of Southampton. Sunke started her PhD in October 2021 looking at the impact of climate change on the maintenance of storm surge barriers.
Prior to this, Sunke graduated with a Masters in Oceanography from the University of Southampton in 2019. As part of an ERASMUS exchange, she spent a year studying at the University of Bremen in Germany. Through connections between the University of Bremen and the Alfred Wegner Institute Sunke was fortune enough to participate in two research cruises. The second cruise to the Southern Ocean linked to her masters dissertation which compared the processes that lead to the historic and modern occurrences of the Maud Rise Polynya.
