About
Prior to working at the University of Southampton, Rachael's clinical background has always focused around ‘high-risk’ midwifery or those with additional care needs. With 10 years experience of working in a busy tertiary unit, she gained valuable experiences and knowledge which is disseminated to the students.
Whilst working clinically Rachael was also a Practice Education Midwife in charge of the preceptorship programme, developing a particular interest in the transition from student midwife to preceptor.
Having completed her undergraduate Midwifery degree and Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice at the University of Southampton, she has a strong appreciation of the demands completing a midwifery degree requires and understands the absolute need for effective pastoral support.
Whilst being relatively new to academia, Rachael has had a varied professional career and is hoping to commence a Doctorate in the near future.
