Dr. Susmita is working as Lecturer B in the Faculty of Engineering & Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton. She worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Whiting School of Engineering of Johns Hopkins University in the collaboration of Army Research Lab, USA. She moved to the USA after completing her doctoral degree from the University of Aberdeen. She was also a visiting doctoral student at the University of Oxford during that period.
Susmita’s research interests and expertise broadly lie in the field of multi-scale structural mechanics and multi-physics analysis focusing on engineered materials and advanced composites involving the intersection of additive manufacturing, material characterization through computational design and experiments in engineering. In addition, she is also working in advance manufacturing techniques that are relevant to the fabrication of engineered materials like composites and metamaterial.
