Current research
Dr Risvas’s current research interests lie in the fields of public international law, international economic law, and international dispute settlement, and in particular international arbitration and the law of the World Trade Organization. He is currently working on finishing a monograph on "Discrimination in International Investment Treaty Arbitration" which is forthcoming with Oxford University Press.
Dr Risvas welcomes applications for doctoral supervision in the areas of international arbitration, public international law and international economic law.

Dr Risvas has taught a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses including public international law, international arbitration, World Trade Organization Law, EU law, contract law, tort law, and public law.

Biography
Dr Michail Risvas joined Southampton Law School in 2021 and specialises in public international law, WTO law, and international arbitration. Before joining the Law School, Dr Risvas was Assistant Professor of International Law at IE Law School in Madrid (2018 – 2021) and practised with an international law firm in Paris (2014 – 2018).
Dr Risvas’s experience includes acting as counsel in investment and commercial arbitration cases under the ICSID, UNCITRAL, LCIA, and ICC rules in the banking, defence, gaming, mining and metallurgy sectors. He is included in the lists of arbitrators of the European Commission for disputes under EU trade agreements, the Common Court of Justice and Arbitration of the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa (OHADA), the Court of Arbitration for Art (CAfA) of the Netherlands Arbitration Institute (NAI), and Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC).
Dr Risvas has taught at different universities in Europe and Latin America and has published in the fields of international economic law, the law of the sea and cultural heritage law.
Dr Risvas holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Athens, and a doctorate and two Master’s degrees in international law from the University of Oxford.
