About
Nicola Jose is the Lead for Children’s Nursing at the University of Southampton and holds a substantive post as Senior Teaching Fellow in Children’s Nursing. Nicola is passionate about Children’s Nursing and promoting and ensuring strong field identity. Nicola is part of the Children and Young People’s Nursing Academics UK group and sits on the committee in the role of Deputy Representative for England.
In addition to her degree in Children’s Nursing, Nicola holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Care Ethics and a Master's in Children’s Law in Relation to Practice. Nicola’s first position as a Lecturer in Children’s Nursing was in London in 2003 and since then she has worked in a number of universities within Children’s Nursing and Childhood Studies Degree programmes. Alongside this Nicola continued to work in clinical practice and therefore brings over 25years of clinical experience into her education practice. Clinically Nicola has worked within in both acute emergency care as a Paediatric Emergency Nurse Practitioner well as supporting children and young people with long term health needs in the school setting. Her varied clinical experience also included senior leadership roles as Designated Safeguarding lead and Director of Pastoral Care.
Nicola was shortlisted for the Florence Nightingale Foundation Scholarship in 2023.
