Current research
Alexander Grant currently works in two areas of classical general relativity: the self-force, the influence that emitted gravitational waves have on the orbit of a small, stellar-mass body into a large, supermassive black hole, and memory effects, which are non-oscillatory components of the gravitational wave signal. Each will be relevant for current and planned gravitational wave detectors.
