Stephen joined the University of Southampton in September 2023 and currently works as a Teaching Fellow in the Education School. He is the Associate Programme Lead for the BSc Education & Psychology programme. Stephen teaches on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules and supervises students who are completing dissertations as part of the MSc Education programme. He created and serves as the module lead on a philosophy of education module for 3rd year undergraduates.
Alongside his teaching responsibilities, Stephen is engaged in a range of research activities. He previously served as the Principal Investigator of the Sustainable Careers Project while at the University of Edinburgh. Stephen is presently working with colleagues in Southampton Education School on a project that seeks to examine how generative AI tools are contributing to and challenging teachers’ research-informed practice. Stephen's personal research interests include topics such as the artistry of teaching, conceptions of teaching and education in the context of a rapidly changing world of work, and the implications of technological advances for teaching.
