About

Dr Sifeng Bi is a Lecturer in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the University of Southampton. His academic journey began in 2015 at the Femto-ST Institute in Besançon, France, where he held a postdoctoral position supported by the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). In 2017, he was awarded the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship, which enabled him to continue his research on uncertainty and reliability at the Leibniz University Hannover in Germany.

Dr Bi's research focuses on uncertainty quantification, stochastic model updating, and numerical model verification and validation, with a particular emphasis on complex aerospace engineering dynamics. His work integrates cutting-edge techniques such as advanced Monte Carlo simulation, approximate Bayesian computation, and reliability-based optimization, with a special interest in imprecise and non-probabilistic analysis methods.

Dr Bi welcomes PhD applicants interested in projects on advanced aircraft design, spacecraft attitude and orbital modeling, and space mission analysis, particularly with a focus on uncertainty and sustainability.
