I am a quantitative human geographer interested in topics at the intersection of political science, global development, and urban studies. The primary focus of my research surrounds the demographic causes and political consequences of urbanisation in low- and middle-income countries. I also work on topics including urban protest mobilisation, urban systems and boundary analysis, and poverty mapping. Methodologically, I am interested in the application of spatial statististical models, geographic data science, and causal inference to political and geographic questions.
Prior to joining Southampton I was a Lecturer and ESRC Fellow in the School of Geographical Sciences at the Univeristy of Bristol, where I completed my PhD in 2022.
