Project overview
his project aims to establish the groundwork toward creating ways to protect and maintain the Isle of Wight’s coastal waters as blue spaces for use by communities. The team is composed by Fiona Middleton is a PhD Candidate in the Leverhulme-funded Intelligent Oceans programme based in the Faculty of Earth and Ocean Science and a local to the Isle of Wight, Franklin Nobrega a Lecturer in Microbiology and Joanne Slater-Jefferies a Professorial Fellow (Enterprise) and the CEO of the National Biofilms Innovation Centre, both are based Faculty of Environmental and Life Sciences. And myself a Research Fellow on Anti Fellowship in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Within the University we hope to work closely with the Cfts team as well as the Public Policy Southampton (PPS).
Our partner include Sue Barker and Victoria Thorneton-Field from Swim The Wight CIC and we hope to able to collaborate with swimmers and communities on the island in depth to create a project that is co-created on on our partners’ terms and needs.
