Project overview
Noise pollution is a significant environmental challenge that can negatively affect both physical and mental health. This project aims to identify and map areas in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight Integrated Care System (ICS) where transportation noise exceeds 55 Decibels on a 24-hour basis and explore residents' lived experiences in these high-noise areas through focus group interviews. The findings will inform future research and guide policy decisions, contributing to climate mitigation strategies, improving public health, reducing inequalities, and promoting healthy ageing. Identifying areas with high noise exposure, the research will guide targeted interventions to help create healthier urban spaces, particularly for marginalised populations who often face disproportionate exposure to environmental hazards.
