About the Music practice rooms and rehearsal spaces
Our practice spaces are an important part of your studies with us. Take opportunities to build your performance skills and collaborate with others.
Turner Sims
Rehearse in a UK music venue with an outstanding creative heritage that produces over 70 promoted concerts each year.
Here you'll take part in:
- rehearsals and performances
- workshops with guest musicians
- teaching, including a community music module taught with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra
Turner Sims Southampton's annual event programme includes jazz, classical, folk and world music. As a music student you'll get discounted or free tickets throughout the year.
Bookable practice rooms
You have the choice of 30 practice spaces, including 3 large ensemble rooms. These are soundproofed and fitted with back-line amplification, as well as drum kits for jazz and pop performance rehearsals.
Our practice and rehearsal rooms are only available to students studying music degree programmes. There are other rooms available across the campuses for use by the wider University community – the University's Room Booking service and SUSU teams can advise on their availability.
