About the project

Are you passionate about advancing healthcare through cutting-edge technology? Do you have a keen interest in biosensors, artificial intelligence, and their applications in healthcare? We invite you to embark on an exciting research journey with us as we seek a talented and driven PhD student to join our team in the pursuit of Intelligent Biosensing Systems for Healthcare.

This research project aims to develop advanced technologies and systems that integrate biological sensors, data analytics, and artificial intelligence to monitor, diagnose, and manage health conditions and diseases. These systems are designed to provide real-time, accurate, and personalised information about a person's health status, allowing for timely interventions and better healthcare decision-making.

The Centre for Hybrid Biodevices within the Digital Health and Biomedical Engineering (DHBE) group is a world-class facility housing both Level 1 and Level 2 biocontainment laboratories, offering a cutting-edge research environment. This centre is dedicated to the secure evaluation of biodevices and the advancement of methods for miniaturising analytical equipment, ultimately enabling automated, cost-effective, and more efficient sample analysis and biomarker detection. Furthermore, our close collaborations with the University Hospital Southampton provide students and researchers with the unique opportunity to engage with actual biological patient samples, pathogens, and cell cultures, ensuring a practical and real-world research experience.
