#WearingWhite – help us spread the word on social media
Simply post a photo of yourself/group of friends/colleagues wearing something white on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #WearingWhite.
It’s also a fantastic opportunity to honour loved ones affected by cancer – so why not write a message of support or memory in your photo? Or perhaps you would prefer a more general message of support for our cancer immunology research / new Centre / hope for the future. It’s totally up to you.
We want to spread the word as much as possible so please encourage all your friends and family to join in. It’s a great one for kids too. We even had pets join in last year!
Please remember to make your post public so we can help promote it further.
Win drumsticks signed by Coldplay drummer Will Champion
We’re delighted that Will Champion, Coldplay drummer and campaign donor, is supporting #WearingWhite this year. Not only is Will wearing white for World Cancer Day but he has also given us a pair of signed drum sticks to give away to the person submitting the best #WearingWhite photo.
To be in with a chance of winning this exclusive prize, all you have to do is share a ‘Wearing White’ photo on social media using #WearingWhite (making sure your post is public) and we will choose the most engaging picture. We also have three University hoodies to give away as runner-up prizes.
We’re looking for effort, creativity and fun to help us tell the world about our life-saving research and soon to open new Centre. We look forward to seeing your photos.

Wearing White Day
Here at the University of Southampton, we are holding a Wearing White day on Thursday 1 February. We are asking all our staff and students to come in to the University wearing something white to collectively show our support for our new Centre.
If you work/study at the University, click here to find out more about joining in on 1 February.
If you are not at the University, why not organise your own Wearing White day? This could be in your office, at school, in a club or simply by getting a group of friends or family together anytime 1-4 February. Please make sure you share your photos with us on social media using #WearingWhite.
We can’t wait to see your photos – dress up in white head to toe or simply wear an accessory – glasses, necklace, scarf, hat, nails… up to you!
Why white?
White blood cells are your body’s heroes, protecting you from infection and disease. Our research is boosting these cells to fight and eradicate cancer, with amazing results. By #WearingWhite you are helping us spread the word about our new world-leading Centre for Cancer Immunology, which will accelerate our progress and save more lives from cancer.
Thank you for supporting the Centre for Cancer Immunology this World Cancer Day.
