During this module you will explore some of the new and innovative practices and challenges facing education. The module begins by examining innovation in a wider sense, such as the changing curriculum or the challenges of globalisation, but then moves to a closer examination of eLearning, one of the more noticeable challenges facing education practices.

The content of the module will typically cover:
- Emerging trends and the nature of innovation in education
- E-learning as innovative practice
- Approaches to e-learning
- Designing and implementing education innovations
- Evaluating the effectiveness of innovations
- Barriers to change in individuals and institutions
Learning and Teaching

This module is taught entirely online. A typical 'lesson' would include:
- Lectures - delivered live via the university's web conferencing system (Adobe Connect) or as pre-prepared videos
- Lecture notes - written by the module tutors
- Selected readings - from the prescribed core texts
- Written tasks - submitted via private blogs or discussion forums
- Online activities - such as quizzes and tests
- Individual and Group tutorials - via Skype (individual) or Adobe Connect (groups)
