The aim of this module is to examine, analyse, and appraise key texts in, and the development of, African American political thought. Thinkers addressed will include David Walker, Frederick Douglas, Anna Julia Cooper, Ida B Wells, Booker T Washington, WEB DuBois, Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston, Audre Lorde , James Baldwin, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Stokely Carmichael, Huey P Newton and Anegla Davis.

Each week, other than week 1, will involve a short introduction followed by discussion based on the readings of specific texts. All sessions are in the form of weekly two-hour meetings.
