• Engage in detailed critical reviewing of academic articles, chapter or books in political theory.

This module will address a range of important non-Western thinkers who were (or are) engaged in the critique of imperialism from Africa, Asia, Middle East, Latin America and 'settler-colonial states' such as Canada. This may include Franz Fanon, Kwame Nkrumah, Aime Césaire, B.S. Ambedkar, M.K. Gandhi, Sayyid Qutb, Zaynab al Ghazali, Huda Sha’rawi, CLR James, Edward Said, Taiake Alfred, Subcommondante Marcos.

2 hours of lectures per week. All will be recorded and posted on Blackboard. Lectures will be delivered either face to face or online only depending upon University and Public Health England Guidance at the time. Total of 24 hours of lectures (2 hours per week X 12 weeks) per module.

Weekly student participation in online discussion boards. 1 hour per week delivered asynchronously. (1 hour X 12 weeks)
