ECS Education Group
We aim to improve education across the whole of Electronics and Computer Science in a meaningful, healthy, and sustainable way.
We aim to improve education across the whole of Electronics and Computer Science in a meaningful, healthy, and sustainable way.
The ECS Education Group brings together all the Teaching Fellows within Electronics and Computer Science; our aim is to support a culture of excellence in ECS teaching, create an educational environment of continuous improvement, and foster innovation in our teaching and assessment methods.
The group includes specialists in Electronics, Electrical, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Science, Software Engineering, and Computer Science. Members of the group are embedded within other research groups and aim to apply that specialist knowledge not only to what we teach, but how we teach it.
The Education Group supports ECS throughout its educational activities and processes, working with Programme Leaders as well as the Assessment and Academic Integrity teams. We manage some of the key logistical activities within the department, such as project allocations, and include Senior Tutors and the Student Lab Management team, as well as members that teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including the module leads for the key foundational modules in the first years of our degree programmes.
We run internal projects reviewing ECS educational strategy and processes and have worked to introduce quality and performance measures such as module reviews and teaching observations.
We act as a bridge to other areas of the University, such as the Student Hub, Student Experience Team, the Faculty teaching fellow network, and the University’s Centre for Higher Education Practice.
We also explore research in pedagogical approaches for electronics and computer science, and actively seek potential collaborations and external funding for these areas.
