Jo's clinical and published expertise is in neurology, particularly specializing in multiple sclerosis, stroke and ME. She still works clinically and enjoys integrating her clinical skills within the teaching environment. Jo has been invoilved with designing video resources to aid with teaching, and to help the students practise skills with case studies. She also enjoys using simulation within her teaching.
Jo has been involved with some research looking at fatigue management in MS, she has been inviolved in projects looking at expert patoents as teachers, and is very interested in the effects of deconditioning and its effects on physical function following neurological insult.
Jo is the physiotherapy link with Practise and liaises with clinical supervisors to ensure they are appropriately skilled to take the students on placement and to keep a good breadth of experiences for the students. She arranges appropriate training, has regular meetings with supervisors and coordinators, and tries to ensure all studnets are suitably placed to ensure they have a broad clinical portfolio when qualifying.
