Dr Richard Pearce is a Research Fellow and Laboratory Manager of the Scanning Electron Microscope and X-Ray Diffraction laboratories within Ocean and Earth Science, National Oceanography Centre Southampton at the University of Southampton.
He has 20+ years’ experience in the fields of scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, and their application to geological sample analysis. As manager of the electron microscope facility he also has wide experience of and is responsible for the analysis and characterization of materials from a range of other disciplines including, but not limited to, archaeological and materials samples.
He has wide experience of and expert knowledge in lab management and instrument maintenance, teaching and research support and consultancy with a diverse range of lab users both in academia, and commercial organisations.
