Current research

The Hyett research group's main focus is functional inorganic materials, with an emphasis on the potential of mixed anion materials, such as oxynitrides and oxysulfides. The mixed anion approach allows the differing charge, size and bonding requirements to influence structure and electronic properties giving novel materials and permitting tuning of properties. A key focus is the discovery of new materials, but the group also investigates the application of materials as thin films and coatings, making use of a range of techniques, including dip-coating and aerosol assisted chemical vapour deposition (AACVD).
