Mia Kylamarttila is the PWP programme Director and a Senior Teaching Fellow and she has been delivering the PGCert. in Low Intensity CBT PWP programme in Southampton since 2015. Mia has a background in Health Psychology and she has previously taught BSc (Hons) Psychology Programmes, PG level courses in Sports and Exercise Psychology and BSc/BA/PGDip. MH and Adult Nursing programmes. Mia is also responsible for the IAPT CPD training and she is a BPS accreditation committee member for the PWP training programmes. Mia’s special interests are physical activity and behaviour change models and understanding how these models can be adapted and applied to working with CMHPs. Before entering the IAPT world her role was to support people with severe mental health problems in a secondary care setting primarily focusing on improving mental health through physical activity. Mia worked as a senior PWP and a clinical supervisor in an IAPT service for 7 years before leaving clinical practice to work full time for the University.
