Peter Youssef is a postgraduate research student in the Transportation Research Group within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton.
Peter graduated with a first-class honours MEng degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Southampton in 2020. During his degree, he held an interest in Transportation Studies, which led him to his third-year dissertation project where he investigated the potential uses of Virtual Reality to train Hazard Perception and a fourth-year group master’s project where he helped create a design tool for Earthworks for HS2.
In October 2020, Peter started his PhD in the Transportation Research Group, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. His research, supervised by Dr Ben Waterson and Dr Katie Plant, is focused on better understanding the factors that affect driver decision-making in different road interactions and incorporating this understanding into driver behaviour models.
