About
Poppy Diver is a PhD student on the INSPIRE DTP at the University of Southampton and the Marine Biological Association, Plymouth. Her research aims to characterise the key functional traits of marine fungi in order to understand their role in the structure and function of pelagic ecosystems. Marine yeast cultures are studied in the laboratory to quantify their physiological and morphological responses to environmental conditions such as substrate availability. Ecological comparisons are drawn between marine yeasts and functionally related plankton groups, including heterotrophic bacteria.
