Human beings are finite in many ways. In this dissertation, Francesco purports to investigate the limits of human understanding. The idea that we have such limits lies at the very heart of philosophical reflection. However, when we think through it, we end up facing all sorts of paradoxical predicaments. In addressing the idea of limits in human understanding, he takes the theory of Transcendental Idealism as a key case study and draws upon the philosophical work of Stanley Cavell. The latter, he argues, significantly bears on contemporary debates about the limits of human understanding. He thus proposes to develop an original account of said limits.
