Dr Zhifeng Chen is a Lecturer in Accounting. Zhifeng joined the Southampton Business School in 2020 from the University of the West of England. She holds a PhD in Management (University of Bath), an MSc in Accounting and Finance (University of Birmingham) and a BSc in Accounting (Fudan University, China).

Current research
Zhifeng’s research is cross-disciplinary by nature, characterised by the use of psychological theories and experimentation to gain insights into fundamental social and accounting issues. In particular, her research focuses on social and environmental disclosure in social media, stakeholders’ decision-making, and CSR. Her work has been published in top journals such as Business Ethics Quarterly and Annals of Tourism Research. Zhifeng regularly attends and presents papers at conferences. Teaching
Zhifeng is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in the UK. Her teaching interests are in Financial accounting and Management accounting, having taught at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She also supervises undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations with a variety of different topics. Zhifeng is module leader of Financial Accounting 1 (postgraduate).

Biography
Zhifeng is a qualified accountant (FCCA) with 15-years of professional experience in various industries. She worked as a financial accountant in Coca-Cola (China) and Nortel Network in the UK, and as a management accountant in Michael Page (Holding) with key responsibilities including budget preparation, annual returns, and consolidations. These industrial experiences inspired her research interests and topics.
