Jiaxi Li is a funded postgraduate student in the Transportation Research Group at the University of Southampton. His PhD research project focuses on High-speed Railway Network Capacity Utilisation and Optimisation.
Jiaxi Li has been studying the high-speed railway capacity for several years. His bachelor dissertation analysed the Influences of Train Line Stopping Patterns on Capacity. His master dissertation, Research on Compressed Headways Calculation Methods Considering Train Dynamics, tried to question whether old headway calculation methods can still be adapted to the new signalling & controlling system in China high-speed railway system. His master dissertation was rewarded as a distinction work, and he graduated from UCL with a distinction honour as well.
Driven by operational research, his research interests can be extended into other transport management topics like line plan, timetable, rolling stock, platform, job & staff scheduling & re-scheduling etc., where academic terms may vary according to different scenarios. Jiaxi is happy to cooperate with colleagues studying similar topics and work for a better railway system together.
