About
Mr Christoph Heuser is a Teaching Fellow, Senior Tutor & Postgraduate Research Student within Ageing & Gerontology at the University of Southampton.
I joined the Department of Gerontology at the University of Southampton in October 2020. Here, I am working as a Teaching Fellow and acting as Senior Tutor for the department. I am also contributing to the postgraduate programmes in the Department of Gerontology, and I coordinate the PGT Skills sessions for new MSc students. In September 2020, I started my PhD in Gerontology, focusing on depression and future-time perspective in later life.
Besides my role at the Department of Gerontology here in Southampton, I work as a guest lecturer for different Universities, focusing on Gerontology and Social Psychology. Additionally, I act as Book Review Editor for the Journal Ageing & Society and as treasurer for the Emerging Researchers in Ageing (ERA).
I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and I am also a member of the following research groups and societies:
- Centre for Research on Ageing (CRA)
- British Society of Gerontology (BSG)
- Emerging Researchers in Ageing (ERA)

Write about yourself in the third person. Aim for 100 to 150 words covering the main points about who you are and what you currently do. Clear, simple language is best. You can include specialist or technical terms.
You’ll be able to add details about your research, publications, career and academic history to other sections of your staff profile.
