About
Dr Benjamin Cameron is a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering group at the University of Southampton. Ben graduated with a Ph.D. in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2021 while on a Fulbright scholarship. He did his undergraduate degree in natural resources engineering from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, and also held a post-doctoral research position at Georgia Institute of Technology.
He is focused on the deep integration of computation and experiment in order to design the next generation of materials and widely expand the applicability of mechanical simulation. He works on new theoretical models of plastic deformation and statistical techniques to interpret complex microstructures. He designs in-situ deformation experiments that precisely integrate with these computational approaches and enable the understanding of complex deformation.
You can update this in Pure (opens in a new tab). Select ‘Edit profile’. Under the heading and then ‘Curriculum and research description’, select ‘Add profile information’. In the dropdown menu, select - ‘About’.
Write about yourself in the third person. Aim for 100 to 150 words covering the main points about who you are and what you currently do. Clear, simple language is best. You can include specialist or technical terms.
You’ll be able to add details about your research, publications, career and academic history to other sections of your staff profile.
