We investigate how people perceive themselves and connect with others.
Our research examines:
- the representational self (how identity is represented in the mind and brain)
- the executive self (how identity influences decisions)
- the relational self (how identity shapes social bonds).
We study the foundations of self-esteem, narcissism, trust, moral behaviour, and attachment processes.
Our work spans diverse topics, including:
- how nostalgia can boost well-being
- the psychological mechanisms behind trust in relationships
- how moral concerns shape personal identity.
These insights help to inform interventions that improve interpersonal relationships, foster social cooperation, and support resilience in challenging situations.
CRSI collaborates with national and international partners across psychology, neuroscience, and related fields to address pressing social psychological and personality issues. By combining innovative methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches, we strive to advance understanding of the self and its role in human behaviour.
