Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement

One community

Learn about how we work together with communities, Southampton University Hospital Trust, and businesses.

Working with schools and colleges

We partner with schools, colleges and the University Hospital Trust to connect young people with our research.

We are opening the doors to the next generation of scientists and doctors, inspiring and enabling young people to direct change for all and make healthy lifestyle choices.

The Faculty of Medicine offers work experience opportunities to students:
•    aged 14 or above
•    in the last two years of schooling or while studying for A level or equivalent qualifications
•    considering science, medicine or allied health profession as a possible career

It is important to us to offer work experience to students in an equitable, open and transparent way. We take our safeguarding and health and safety obligations seriously.

We also run the very popular LIVE virtual work experience, aimed at Year 12 students interested in studying Medicine.

The University's Learn with US (Outreach) programme provides a range of events and activities to engage and inspire learners who have the potential to enter higher education, but who may not currently be considering it.

LifeLab empowers children and young people to make positive lifestyle choices through science.

University Hospital Southampton gives the opportunity to shadow clinical or non-clinical professionals to gain an insight into working within an NHS Trust.

We have a range of projects and engagement tools suitable for young people of school and college ages. Please contact us at [email protected] for more information.
