The Supply Chain Excellence Centre combines leading-edge academic expertise with practical relevance to advance knowledge and benefit organisations through research projects, knowledge transfer partnerships, consultancies, and advanced executive training. Our research addresses real-world business challenges, and its outputs are shared in top-ranked scientific journals, international conferences, textbooks, and professional bodies’ reports.
The main objectives of the centre are leading impactful research, training world-class researchers, and sharing the knowledge of supply chain management with the industry. These objectives are materialised through research projects, businesses collaborations, supervising PhD researchers, and running seminars and workshops.
SCEC areas of expertise are advanced supply chain technologies (e.g., blockchain and Internet-of-Things), sustainability, global logistics, supply chain risk and resilience, operations digital transformation, omnichannel retail, supply chain optimisation, and procurement strategies. The centre’s members have several years of experience in the fields of advanced manufacturing, retail logistics, healthcare operations, international trade, multi-modal transport, and the food sector. They have received awards and recognitions for their high-quality research outputs, publications, and contributions to the community. They also lead and deliver taught modules in the areas of operations, supply chain, procurement, and logistics at undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA levels across various programmes and disciplines at the University of Southampton.
