Project overview
This project brings together a team of academics, industry partners, and stakeholders to investigate some of the strategic challenges across the hydrogen value chain in the context of Solent Region and specifically within the City of Southampton, addressing users for whom hydrogen could be the most effective decarbonisation solution.
The project aims include:
1. Analyse and model the hydrogen demand and supply options for specific uses in the City of Southampton such as maritime/port activities, CHP and others.
2. Investigate specific supply options and identify storage sites for targeted consumers.
3. Investigate the challenges related to the scalability of hydrogen storage.
4. Study economic and policy implications of hydrogen adoption for environmental governance, economic growth, job creation and innovation at local scale.
5. Engage with appropriate early adopters, e.g. local authorities, universities, hospitals, and promote partnerships for innovation related to decarbonisation.
