Project overview
This interdisciplinary project addresses themes relating to teacher motivation, teacher learning and pupil outcomes. It comprises three work packages conducted across the four nations to support teacher and pupil learning and teacher supply through:
a) a research-informed, digital professional development programme
b) a linked digital FL literacy classroom intervention and
c) a teacher mentorship/stakeholder engagement MOOC and resource toolkit.
It will investigate the role of technology in supporting high-quality practitioner interaction, its effect on teacher learning, teacher job satisfaction and motivation to teach foreign languages.
The effect of a digital FL literacy teaching intervention on teacher and learner linguistic and non-linguistic outcomes will also be investigated.
The final work package will identify whether the professional development and teaching intervention can be scaled up and also improve stakeholder understanding of FL education.
