Project overview
The way we produce, process, transport, buy, consume, and dispose of food as a city impacts our individual, community and planetary health. Therefore, in line with the National Food Strategy recommendations, and Southampton City Council’s Scrutiny Inquiry into Tackling Childhood Obesity recommendation to become a Sustainable Food Place, we are facilitating partners from public, private and community organisations to come together to co-develop Southampton’s local food strategy. This is a collaboration across sectors, public, commercial, charitable, local authority and the University. There are already so many incredible projects across Southampton aiming to make our food environment healthier and more sustainable, and working together in this co-ordinated way will amplify the impacts of these individual efforts. Our partnership is open, inclusive and we welcome engagement and participation from anyone interested in improving Southampton’s local food system. Our remit is to put people at the heart of our work.
