Project overview
Rising rough sleeping and temporary accommodation use for people increases vulnerability to climate change, exacerbating physical and mental health problems and sometimes leading to premature death. People living on the streets have no protection from extreme temperatures, air pollution and flooding. Hostels and temporary accommodation often use poorly adapted buildings which can end up damp and mouldy; child deaths have been linked to black mould in emergency accommodation. SWEePing the Streets aims to bring a wide range of experts from psychology, law, economics, health, and social sciences together with experts by experience to explore long-lasting change.
