RYA Dinghy Level 2 - Basic Skills

If you’ve completed the RYA Dinghy Level 1 - Start Sailing course, this course will help you build on that knowledge and introduce you to some new skills and techniques.

About the course

This course is designed for people with basic sailing skills, who are now looking to progress further and learn more. During your time on the water, our instructors will help you to build your confidence, and introduce essential new skills such as:

  • rigging
  • launching
  • sailing in all directions
  • capsize recovery
  • essential safety knowledge

Dinghy Sailing courses are taught on a maximum ratio of 1 instructor to 9 students. However, they often run on a ratio of 1 instructor to 6 students.

After completing this course, you’ll be able to sail without supervision and make decisions in good weather conditions. You’ll also be qualified to join in with our recreational sailing sessions.
