You need to upload proof of your nationality and your immigration status on Banner, our student records system.
If you have a student visa, you also need to come to an in-person appointment to complete your 'Right to Study Check'.
You can book your appointment for this after uploading your documents.
Upload your documents
Make sure you upload clear, colour photos of your passport and immigration status.
- Log into Banner with your University IT account details
- Select ‘View action items’
- Follow the instructions for ‘Right to Study Check’
- Upload your passport or travel document photo page to the Passport section
- Upload the immigration documents to the Immigration Documents section

Book an in-person appointment
You must book an in-person appointment to complete your Right to Study Check if you have a student visa. You should book the earliest appointment available after you arrive in Southampton.
You'll be able to cancel or reschedule, if you need to.
If you have a different visa or immigration permission, you don't need to come to an in-person appointment.
You must bring your passport with you, and your biometric residence permit (BRP) if you collected it from the Post Office or it was delivered to your home address.

Collecting your BRP card
You can collect your BRP at the University during your appointment if you chose this option when you applied for your visa.
If you chose to collect it from the Post Office, you need to collect it and bring it with you.
If you applied for a new visa from within the UK, your BRP card will be sent to the address on your application. Don’t forget to bring it to your in-person appointment.
