Develop practical and theoretical knowledge with a BSc in Accounting and Taxation. Learn skills and apply theories and practices within audit, taxation and public sector accounting that prepare you to take strategic roles in businesses.
On this course, you'll collect, analyse and communicate data in areas of accounting, audit, tax and sustainability. You'll graduate with the ability to show businesses how to ethically, responsibly and sustainably apply new concepts and practices.
Unlike many other BSc accounting courses, this degree focuses on the public sector and how businesses and policymakers interact. You'll also have the chance to work towards professional qualifications recognised in the accountancy and taxation industries.

Course structure
This BSc Accounting and Taxation degree will provide you with a thorough working knowledge of accounting and taxation in the context of social science.
You'll learn how to prepare and interpret financial and managerial information, and gain a rich understanding of taxation theory and practice. You'll have opportunities to apply practical skills including:

Year 1 overview
In your first year, you'll get an introduction to commercial law, economics, management and accounting.
You'll take 7 core modules and can take one optional module.
Year 2 overview
Your second year will give you a more detailed understanding of company law and contemporary issues in the field.
You'll have 7 core modules and can take an optional module to explore an area of your choice.
Year 3 overview
This is your paid industry placement year. You'll spend a minimum of 32 weeks working in a real business. You'll learn new skills, apply the knowledge you've already acquired, and gain work experience that will boost your future career.
Year 4 overview
In the final year of the programme, you'll complete a final research project alongside a range of advanced modules, including one optional module per semester.
