About this course

Innovate and influence positive change in the design of clothes and put your creative ideas into practice. This fashion design degree provides a dynamic and questioning environment to engage your creativity.

On this course, you’ll gain an understanding of who you are as a designer, what you offer and why it’s relevant.

You can also expect to:

  • develop your knowledge of consumer connection with colour, pattern, and material
  • stay updated on industry changes and traditional heritage craft methods
  • collaborate with others and undertake problem-based learning projects
  • investigate sustainable and ethical decision making

The BA Fashion Department prioritises sustainability through using donated fabrics that would otherwise go to waste. You’ll have exclusive use of these fabrics for your creative development as a fashion design degree student.

Throughout your study, you’ll be supported by industry experienced academic, technical, and research staff. The curriculum is based on market intelligence from industry partners, which means you’ll leave this course with a skillset relevant to today’s evolving job market.

This BA Fashion Design degree is a member of the following three leading fashion organisations:

  •  United Kingdom Fashion and Textiles (UKFT)
  • British Fashion Council (BFC)
  • Graduate Fashion Week (GFW)

Through this you’ll have access to members-only bursaries, placements, jobs, and events. There will also be the opportunity for you to present your professional portfolio and work on live industry projects.

You’ll get to work with a local vintage clothing archive. The archive includes garments ranging from the Victorian era to the 1980s. With this you’ll be able to contextualise your ideas and book out pieces for styling photoshoots.

We regularly review our courses to ensure and improve quality. This course may be revised as a result of this. Any revision will be balanced against the requirement that the student should receive the educational service expected. Find out why, when, and how we might make changes.

Our courses are regulated in England by the Office for Students (OfS).
