About

Dr Mohamed Torbati is an Associate Professor in Mechatronics Research Group. He completed his PhD in 1995 in the Signal Processing and Control Research Group at the Institute of Sound of Vibration Research and since then has been involved in all areas of research, teaching and enterprise. His recent research activities have been mainly on energy harvesting and storage that are summarised below:

  • Efficient DC power generation from reciprocating mechanical motion
  • Compressed energy energy storage
  • Energy harvesting from road surfaces using piezoelectric materials
  • Energy harvesting from electrospun fibres
  • Design of magnetic gears for energy harvesting

He is currently the Director of Internationalisation for the School of Engineering, Exchange coordinator for Mechanical Engineering and the School’s Senior International Tutor.
