Member of the Editorial Board, Ocean Development & International Law; Review Editor for the ICES [International Council for the Exploration of the Sea] Journal of Marine Science. 

Author of The New Entrants Problem in International Fisheries Law (CUP, 2016) and of the entries for 19 articles of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea in the Proelss commentary (Hart/Beck, 2017) and over 40 other book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles, as well as submissions and reports to committees of the UK, Australian and European Parliaments.

Consultancies for the Canadian Government on the outer limit of the continental shelf in the Arctic Ocean and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations on rights-based management of deep-sea fisheries in the area beyond national jurisdiction. 

Former (2017-20) Director of the Institute of Maritime Law within Southampton Law School; currently co-ordinator of PhD admissions.
